Milo Update Report · Issue 3

Your Google Calendar, your way, and an alert the moment a client books

Saturday, October 3 to Monday, October 5, 2026

This round makes Milo fit around the rest of your life. Your Google calendars now keep clients from booking you at the gym or in a meeting, you choose exactly which calendars are read and which one gets your bookings, and your phone tells you the moment someone books. Your emails land in the inbox instead of spam, and a short animated tour shows anyone how Milo works.

The big changes

  1. An alert the moment a client books

    All plans

Tap the bell at the top of Milo to turn on booking alerts. Your phone shows who booked, what and when, the second it happens. On iPhone this works once Milo is added to your Home Screen from Safari; if alerts are off, Milo can text you the same details instead.

    Why it matters
You know about new bookings without opening the app.
    Where to find it
The bell at the top of Milo.
  2. Your Google Calendar blocks your booking times

    All plans

When you're busy in Google Calendar (the gym, a doctor's appointment, your other job), clients can't book you then. Milo sees only that you're busy, never what the event is, and shows those times on your Milo calendar as blocked-off time.

    Why it matters
Plan your life in Google and your booking page keeps up by itself.
    Where to find it
    Settings, Google Calendar.
  3. Several Google accounts, and you choose what syncs where

    All plans

Connect more than one Google account (say, work and personal). For each one, tick the calendars that should block your availability, and choose the one calendar Milo adds your bookings to, or none.

    Why it matters
Read your personal calendar, write bookings to your work one, and keep the rest out of it.
    Where to find it
    Settings, Google Calendar, Choose calendars.
  4. Google Meet for online appointments

    All plans

Turn it on and each booking becomes a Google Meet call. Google emails your client the invite with the link, and the update or cancellation if the visit changes.

    Why it matters
Run consultations and virtual appointments without sending links by hand.
    Where to find it
Settings, Google Calendar, Make each booking a Google Meet.
  5. Book anyway, and see what's in the way

    All plans

When a time is taken, Milo now says exactly why: busy in your Google Calendar, or time off, with the times. Your team can choose Book anyway; clients booking online never can.

    Why it matters
Squeeze in a regular without turning off your calendar.
    Where to find it
Calendar, when you book a blocked time.
  6. Emails that land in the inbox

    All plans

Confirmations and reminders now read like a note from your business: plain, personal and sent under your business name. Marketing messages come from a separate address with a one-click unsubscribe, and subject lines are short and clean.

    Why it matters
Fewer of your emails end up in spam or Gmail's Promotions tab, so clients actually see them.
  7. How to use Milo: a short animated tour

A two-minute tour of everything in Milo: your booking page, alerts, the calendar, clients, checkout, reports, messages, the AI helper, connections and using Milo on any device. Jump to any part from the timeline.

    Where to find it
The How to use Milo button on milo.cwoted.com.
  8. A security update

    All plans

Milo runs on the latest, patched version of its web framework, closing a critical vulnerability reported this week.

Also improved

  • The client's name on new-booking emails

The email your team gets for a new booking now says who booked, right in the subject.

  • Blocked time is easy to tell apart

Busy times from Google show in blue-grey on your calendar, apart from time off you added in Milo. Tap one to see where it comes from.

    Find it: Calendar.

Fixed and tidied

  • Online booking waits for a fresh calendar

If a Google Calendar hasn't synced recently, only online booking pauses for that team member; your team can still book from the calendar.

  • A busy time still offered

Times already taken in a connected Google Calendar are no longer offered on booking forms.

Repeat bookings, follow-ups that bring clients back, and messages in seconds

Thursday, October 1 to Friday, October 2, 2026

This round is about keeping your chair full with less effort: book a regular client months ahead in one go, let Milo nudge clients who are due for their next visit, and reach every client at once. Texts and emails now arrive within seconds, your reports show what you actually collected including HST, and bringing your history over from another system takes one file.

The big changes

  1. Repeating appointments

    All plans

When you book a visit, choose Repeat: every week, every 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 weeks, or every 1 to 3 months, for a number of visits or until a date. Milo books each one at the same time, even across daylight saving, and shows you the dates before you save. If your team member is already booked or off on one of the dates, that date is skipped and you're told which.

    Why it matters
Regulars are booked months ahead in one step, and their spots are held.
    Where to find it
Calendar, Add appointment, Repeat. The appointment shows “Every 2 weeks · visit 3 of 8”, and cancelling offers this visit only or this and every later one.
  2. A follow-up that brings clients back

    All plans

Turn on a friendly message that goes out a set number of days after a visit (14 by default): “It's been 2 weeks since your last visit. Ready for your next one? Book here.” It goes by text, email or both, in your words, and only to clients who haven't already booked again.

    Why it matters
Clients who are due for their next visit get a nudge and a one-tap link to book, without you remembering who to message.
    Where to find it
Messages, Setup, Follow-up after a visit. By email on every plan; by text on Pro and Max.
  3. Bulk email and texts

    Pro and Max

Send one message to many clients: everyone, clients who came in recently, clients who haven't been in for a while, one team member's clients, or people you pick. You see how many will get it before you send, and can send now or schedule it, once or repeating.

    Why it matters
Announcements, open spots and promotions reach the right people in a minute.
    Where to find it
Messages, Bulk. Also in Settings, Bulk email & texts.
  4. Texts and emails arrive in seconds

    All plans

Confirmations, messages you write and password emails now leave Milo the moment they're created, instead of waiting up to five minutes, and reminders go out within a minute of their time. If a provider hiccups, Milo retries within seconds.

    Why it matters
A client who just booked gets their confirmation while they're still on the page.
  5. One importer for your client lists, appointments, sales and services

    All plans

Bring in a file from Vagaro, Polly or a spreadsheet, as CSV or Excel. Milo recognises what it is, shows you exactly what will be added before anything changes, and never creates duplicates: clients already in Milo only get missing details filled in.

    Why it matters
Moving to Milo, or catching up history, takes one file instead of an afternoon.
    Where to find it
    Clients, Import.
  6. Reports show the total you collected, HST included

    All plans

Next to net sales, reports now show Total collected (sales plus tax and tips), the HST on every receipt, and tax and totals by payment type, in the app and in the PDF.

    Why it matters
Your numbers in Milo now line up with your bank deposits and your previous system's totals.
    Where to find it
    Reports, Overview and Sales.
  7. Change your password safely

    All plans

Everyone on the team can change their own password. Milo emails a 6-digit code to make sure it's really you, then signs you out everywhere else.

    Where to find it
    Settings, Your account.
  8. Clients book one service at a time (optional)

    All plans

A setting for shops that take one service per visit: on your booking page, once a client picks a service the others are greyed out until they remove it.

    Where to find it
Online booking settings, Clients book one service at a time.
  9. A 15-minute tutorial with us

New to Milo? Book a 15-minute walkthrough and setup call with us straight from our website.

    Where to find it
The Book a 15-min tutorial button on milo.cwoted.com.
  10. Up-to-date Terms and Privacy Policy

Both now cover texting and its charges, card payments from your clients, the directory, connected services and how replies and opt-outs are handled.

    Where to find it
Terms and Privacy, in the site footer.

Also improved

  • A booking link in every message

Confirmations, reminders, follow-ups and bulk messages can include your booking page as a link, added with one click like a client's name.

Find it: Any message in Messages, Setup and Bulk.

  • Clearer pricing

The pricing page now spells out what's included for texting on each plan and the small fee on card payments you take from clients.

    Find it: Pricing on milo.cwoted.com.

Fixed and tidied

  • Texting usage near the start of a month

Texts sent in the first hours of a month are always counted in the right month.

  • Reset links can't be misused

Password reset links accept only genuine links, tightening account security.

  • Text campaigns while texting is off

Milo now tells you to turn texting on first, rather than quietly not sending.

Milo Update Report · Issue 1

Messages, two-way texting, and a calendar that keeps your time

Wednesday evening, September 30 to Thursday, October 1, 2026

The biggest change since launch is in how Milo talks to your clients. Every text and email now lives in its own Messages tab, clients can answer your texts, and each business texts from its own phone number. Around that: a calendar grid you choose, simpler message writing, paying for your plan without leaving Milo, faster Google Calendar sync and longer report periods.

The big changes

  1. Messages: one place for every text and email

    All plans

A new Messages tab in the menu (and a message bubble on the phone's bottom bar). Texts are laid out like your phone's messages app: one conversation per client, your texts on one side and their replies on the other, with each reminder and confirmation labelled. You can reply straight from the conversation, or start a new text to any client. A separate Email tab lists every email Milo sent for you, opens each one like a letter, and shows whether it was delivered.

    Why it matters
You can see exactly what a client was told and what they said back, without guessing or digging through notifications. A dot and a count show conversations still waiting on you.
    Where to find it
Messages, in the left menu. Texts and Email are its first two tabs.
  2. Clients can reply to your texts

    Pro and Max

Reminders now end with “Reply C to confirm, N if you can’t make it.” C marks the visit confirmed on your calendar and thanks the client. N sends them a link to change the visit and emails you. Anything else they write lands in Messages and in your inbox. STOP, START and HELP work the way phone carriers require.

    Why it matters
Fewer no-shows and fewer phone calls just to confirm. A visit confirmed by text shows “Confirmed by text” on the appointment.
    Where to find it
Automatic on texted reminders. Replies appear in Messages, Texts.
  3. Your own texting number

    Pro and Max

Turning texting on gets your business its own local phone number. Your confirmations, reminders and texts come from it, and replies to it reach only you. Before, all businesses shared one number.

    Why it matters
Clients see a consistent local number for you, and a reply can never go to the wrong business.
    Where to find it
Messages, Setup, Texting. The owner or an admin turns it on after reviewing the charges.
  4. A texting meter, with clear charges

    Pro and Max

Pro includes 300 texts a month and Max includes 1,000. Each text beyond that is 3¢, and the phone number costs what our provider charges for it (about $1 a month). Both are added to your next Milo bill at the end of the month. The meter shows this month’s texts against your allowance, what you have received, and past charges. A long text counts as more than one, the way carriers count them.

    Why it matters
No surprise bills: you see your usage as it happens.
    Where to find it
    Messages, Setup, Texting.
  5. Choose your calendar’s time intervals

    All plans

Set the calendar grid to 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 minutes. It is one setting for the whole business, so online booking offers clients start times on the same interval.

    Why it matters
A barber who books every half hour and a salon that books every 15 minutes each get a calendar that matches how they work, and clients can only pick times that fit it.
    Where to find it
Calendar, Your calendar settings, Time intervals. Managers and above can change it.
  6. Writing messages without the brackets

    All plans

Every email and text you write in Milo has buttons for First name, Full name, Business name and Appointment details. Click one and it drops in as a purple tag right where you are typing, and you keep typing. A live preview shows the message as a client will read it. Campaigns now fill in each client’s name too.

    Why it matters
No more typing {{client_name}} by hand or wondering whether it will work.
    Where to find it
Messages, Setup: reminders, booking confirmations and campaigns.
  7. Pay for your Milo plan inside Milo

    All plans

Choosing or changing a plan now opens a secure payment sheet in Milo with the plan, any discount on your account and the monthly total, instead of sending you to another site. Payments are still handled by Stripe.

    Why it matters
A faster, clearer checkout that shows exactly what you will pay.
    Where to find it
    Settings, Milo subscription.
  8. Google Calendar updates instantly

    All plans

Bookings and changes now reach Google Calendar within seconds instead of a few minutes later. You can also choose to show the client’s name in event titles (“Olga · Haircut”), and a visit moved to another team member now leaves the first person’s calendar.

    Why it matters
Your phone’s calendar is always current, and nobody sees a visit that isn’t theirs anymore.
    Where to find it
    Settings, Google Calendar.

Also improved

  • Longer report periods

Reports add Year to date, 1 year and 3 years. Long charts group by month so they stay readable.

    Find it: Reports.

  • Changing your booking link no longer breaks old links

If you rename your booking link, links already shared, printed or saved by clients forward to the new one.

    Find it: Settings, Business details.

  • Texting status at a glance

Integrations shows whether texting is on for your business and the number you text from.

    Find it: Integrations, Text messaging.

  • Clearer directory cards

Businesses that use their logo as their cover photo in the Milo directory now show it cleanly on a dark background.

    Find it: Milo’s public directory.

Fixed and tidied

  • Communications moved to Messages

Reminders, confirmation templates, campaigns and texting moved from Settings to Messages, Setup. Old links and bookmarks forward there.

  • Text from an appointment explains itself

When Text with app is unavailable, it now says why: texting is off for your business, or it is still being set up.

  • Texts held while texting is off

A business with texting off no longer has texts attempted for it. They are held, and the reason is shown.

  • Clients who opted out stay opted out

Someone who texts STOP to your number is not texted again by your business until they text START. Other businesses are unaffected.
